University of Alicante – Day 2

Day 2 at Alicante started with a beautiful sunrise.
Tram is the easiest way to get to the university. One trip from the city centre takes approximately 24 minutes and costs only €1,45.
Jerita and Inka telling about the maternity box.
Breaks let us get some energy from the sun.

We started the morning with our presentation about the Finnish health care system. After the presentation we discussed about patient safety and whether nurses should prescribe medicine or not with Mr. Adrian. There were 2 exchange students from Greece and 2 from Scotland who joined us and introduced themselves. Before siesta Dr. Pérez-Cañaveras and Dr. Vizcaya-Moreno came to talk about their interesting project (https://www.slipps.eu/).

Delicious mexican food.

In traditional Spanish way we had our lunch from 2 till 4 pm. The siesta was spent at the nearby outlet center.

Jorge “Jorma” Riquelme lecturing.
Maria, Maria, Inka, Jarno & Satu discussing.

The afternoon lecture was extremely inspirational and consisted of nursing empowerment, nursing leadership and the concept of Magnet Hospitals. The lecture was held by PhD candidate Jorge Riquelme (or, as we Finns call him, “Jorma”). Topics sparked good discussions among us students.

Beautiful view from the Castillo de Santa Bárbara.
Blogging excellence.

The day started with a beautiful sunrise so we had to end it with a perfect sunset at the Castillo de Santa Bárbara. This blog post was written while enjoying these inspiritional views with a little of help from Sangria.
