This blog highlights a marketing project by Laurea University of Applied Sciences students, showcasing their diverse skills and international perspectives. The collaboration offers a global angle and provides students with valuable real-world learning opportunities. Through research, teamwork, and strategic development, the project allows the participants to deepen their understanding of modern marketing practices while engaging with a dynamic and innovative Finnish company, Eduix, which focuses on enhancing education through digital solutions.
A Multicultural Team with Diverse Perspectives
The project team consists of four Finnish students, one from the Czech Republic, and one from Spain. This multicultural mix brings a wealth of perspectives and experiences to the table, creating a vibrant and dynamic environment. Despite English being a second language for everyone, the team has tackled its tasks with enthusiasm and determination. With each member contributing their strengths, the project emphasizes the value of teamwork and collaboration across cultural and professional backgrounds.
Learning Through Research and Presentations
Throughout the project, the students have had the chance to engage with a variety of marketing-related topics and approaches. They have explored tools such as the SOSTAC model to understand strategic planning and learned the importance of benchmarking by analyzing how different organizations operate and what lessons can be drawn from marketing practices.
A significant part of the learning experience has involved creating and delivering presentations. Each student chose a topic relevant to the project, such as internal communication in businesses, social media marketing, AI in marketing, digital marketing trends, or B2B sales. By presenting these topics to their peers, the students not only gained deeper insights into their chosen areas but also developed their skills in teaching and knowledge-sharing.
Diving into Modern Marketing Trends
The project has introduced the students to key concepts in contemporary marketing, from project management techniques to the future of digital tools in business. Special attention was given to the evolving role of AI in marketing and its potential to transform customer engagement and decision-making processes. Discussions around well-being in professional contexts and effective internal communication also provided a holistic view of workplace dynamics.
Enhancing Professional Communication
Beyond diving into marketing concepts, the students had the opportunity to refine their professional communication skills through a variety of practical exercises. They practised crafting professional out-of-office replies, formal invitations, and other business-related messages, focusing on clarity, appropriate tone, and proper etiquette. While seemingly straightforward, these tasks emphasized the critical role of effective communication in maintaining professionalism and building strong business relationships. By paying close attention to the details of language and presentation, the students learned how written communication can convey credibility, respect, and a sense of purpose. These skills are essential in marketing and universally valuable across all professional contexts.
Real-World Insights and Lifelong Learning
This project has been more than an academic exercise—it has provided students with a rich, hands-on learning experience bridging the gap between theory and practice. Through exploring diverse topics such as benchmarking, strategic planning, and the future of digital marketing, the students have developed a deeper understanding of the ever-evolving field of marketing. Collaborative work with their peers has honed their teamwork and interpersonal skills while tackling real-world challenges and has prepared them for future careers in business and beyond. This journey has enriched their professional knowledge and contributed to their personal growth, instilling confidence and adaptability as they prepare to navigate the complexities of the modern workplace.
