THE POWER OF INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION 

Picture this: a group of seven students, from four different countries, coming together to help a Finnish business enter a new market. 

In an interconnected world, led by technological advancement, businesses’ expansion is not only about strategy and data; borders are not a limit anymore, and people are the center of progress and innovation

The importance of collaboration:

According to research, from Harvard Business Review, highly diverse and intercultural teams and companies, are 70% more likely to capture a new market. 

Collaboration is not just a trend, it became a necessity in the global business environment, and the potential benefits are endless: 

  • Unique viewpoints, fueled by cultural perspectives, can foster innovation and creativity: various points of view, personalities, skills, personal and professional experiences, coming together can spark new ideas, possibilities and opportunities, while ensuring a high level of flexibility and adaptability. 
  • Local knowledge and insight make a business more competitive: understanding local laws, customs and the overall landscape can help a business to thrive and generate stronger relations and trust with potential partners and clients. 
  • It is an opportunity for personal growth: becoming a global citizen and leaving aside prejudices and biases. 

As expected, such collaboration comes as well with difficulties and challenges that must be addressed, from linguistical and cultural differences, to dissimilar working styles and preferences. However, from the right perspective, such challenges represent the best opportunities to gain experience and grow as an individual and professional, while valuing each other’s unique contributions. 

Our Project:

This is exactly what this project aims to achieve: bridging cultural differences, combining different perspectives, to empower Mavatech, a Finnish company focusing on CBRN decontamination (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear), to understand, analyze and enter the Tajikistan Market, by creating meaningful partnerships and collaborations with local institutions and companies. 

The assignment involves assessing Mavatech’s capability to enter a new market, analyzing the economical, socio-cultural and competitive landscape of Tajikistan in the focused industry.  Our project’s task is to identify and connect with key players which could potentially become clients and/or partners, and ultimately, having gathered a large amount of insights, advice and recommend the company about which strategy and steps to follow next. 

Delivering high quality outcomes not only will benefit the project, but it will as well contribute to the personal growth and experience of each of us; it is a one-of-a-kind opportunity given by Laurea UAS, to improve our skills and knowledge, while generating impact and value for a real client. 

Now it is time for us to dive deep in this collaborative learning journey, but I would like to leave here a quote that I believe summarizes the power of people and connections:
