Service desing: AI for the export industry

Project description

During this spring’s P2P project, we have worked in a diverse and international team, including exchange students from different countries. We aimed to develop a user-centered interface using service design methods and deliver a clear, functional solution for our project partner. This experience offered us valuable insight into collaborative design work and intercultural teamwork.

Project Goal

The main goal of our project was to design a visually appealing and easy-to-use interface that meets the needs of the target users. Using service design tools, we aimed to better understand the users and develop a concept that enhances the overall user experience of the service.

Working Methods and Approach

We started the project with a benchmarking phase, where we analyzed similar existing services and user interfaces to identify good practices and development gaps. This gave us a strong foundation for building our own unique approach. Throughout the design process, we used several service design methods such as creating user personas, mapping customer journeys, and prototyping the user interface. Designing the prototype and testing it with feedback was a key part of our work, and the international nature of our team enriched the process with fresh perspectives and ideas.

Communication and Collaboration

Working in a multicultural team brought a valuable layer to the project. English was our working language, and through collaboration, we developed our communication skills and strengthened our ability to work in a global setting. We used various digital tools to support communication and project management, which helped us stay organized and aligned. We also created visual materials to support our interface concept and compiled our findings into a report for the client.

Lessons and Reflections

While we encountered challenges, such as scheduling meetings and different cultures and language barriers, we overcame them with open communication and flexibility. The diversity in our team turned out to be one of our greatest strengths, pushing our ideas forward and expanding our thinking. One of our biggest successes was developing a functional and user-friendly UI prototype based on real user insights and service design methods. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and excited to present our work to the client in the final seminar.
